Trick or Treat?!!

No, I have not forgotten that I have this blog.. I’ve just been busy lately. Thanks to the upcoming UNDAS (All Saint’s Day) holiday, I have tons of things to take care of. As if naman super vacation ang drama—it turned out that only Nov 1 was declared a Special Holiday, and it fell at a Monday. Drat.

Anyway, as I toured the malls this last weekend, the Holloween “thing” is felt almost everywhere. Looking at the variety of costumes now available for kids, I thought, “ how come these weren’t available when I was a kid?” There were also lots of cool things available, like platic hairbands with built in horns or knives with matching blood.. and they're cheap ha! Before, the only available costumes were those rubber masks that cost a lot. Now, there are witch hats with frizzy hairs attached to it.. lots of make-up for kids and all possible insect pets in plastic and rubber materials.

During my elementary years, if you wanted to wear a costume on Holloween or to school programs, you had to ask your Mom to make one for you! So, inevitably, your presentability on this costume-wearing day will depend on your Mom’s sewing and craft skills. Let alone her Imagination!!! A friend once told a story of him being dressed by his mom with white long sleeves, black slacks with matching black bow tie when he was invited to a birthday party. Confused by this costume he asked his mom why he should wear this to a costume party. Ang reply ng mother,” Ayan anak, pag may nagtanong kung ano ang costume mo, sabihin mo Waiter ka.” Thank God my mom had more imagination.

So far, I don’t have any plans for this Holloween.. no parties to go to, I’ve no relatives here in Manila to visit, and most of all, my whole family’s gone for a vacation.. I wasn’t able to go cause they left last week and I have work..huhuhu. Just the usual Sunday rest day and one lone free day. Will I consider finally watching Kis Aquino's Feng Shui?! If I do, sobrang bored na siguro ako nun! Anyway, I’ll just have to cook up some mischief this Holloween!! Trick or treating anyone?? Basta ba hindi "waiter" ang costume mo!! hehehe
